Be Sober and Present in the Moments that Comprise your Life.

The past is a dream, tomorrow is an expectation so all we have is now in which to take actions to achieve some small goals and enjoy life. Take baby steps but take lots of them in overcoming drinking. Tell yourself every five minutes that I do not drink alcohol anymore now, string those 5 minute applications of willpower together and you will get through the day. I have not touched alcohol for 4 and a half years and that is how I continue to abstain. Treat everyday as a new day and remind yourself not to take a drink because this way of livig is better than living with alcohol dependence.  Days turn into years and you find other interests and ways to live a more positive and meaningful lifestyle.

It takes time and ou must be patient and keep alive the hope for a better life.  Accept that there will be difficult days and be willing toput in the effort to stay focused on the vision you have of yourself living a positivew meaningful life free of alcohol and able to live with purpose and determination to make a contribution to the greater good.
